Helambu Trek

Helambu Trek with Star Adventure Asia Treks:

Helambu is situated 75 km. to the north of Kathmandu and offers the nearest experience of Sherpa culture without having to go to the Everest regions. The Sherpa village of Tarke Ghyang that forms the focul of Helambu is a charming enclave of farmers and yak herders. The trip starts with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal. The trail takes you through Melamchi, the site of a mega project to bring drinking water to Kathmandu via a series of tunnels. Helambu provides an instant Himalayan trek for those with limited time. Helambu trek is easy and provides the spectacular views of the Langtang (7245m), Ganesh Himal (7405m), Dorje Lhakpa (6990m) and other small mountains of Langtang Himalayan range. The warm and friendly people of Helambu are mostly Buddhists. It is an ideal trip for those who have a short time and like to combine both cultural scene. It is famous for its scenic grander and pleasant climate. There are many Buddhist Monasteries amidst a rich and enchanting landscape as well as dense Rhododendron forest and local traditional culture. A relatively low altitude trek, the Helambu circuit is one of the most convenient of the short treks close to Kathmandu. It can be completed in only seven days and is well supplied with good camping places in each settlement. The local people are predominantly Tamang with Sherpa people inhabiting the higher villages, particularly Melamchi Gaon, Tarkegyang and Sermathang.

Day 01: Welcome to Nepal, upon your arrival in Nepal our representative welcome and assists to transfer hotel evening welcome dinner.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley city tours and preparation for Helambu  trek.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal then trek to Chisapani (2170m).

Day 04: Trek from Chisopani to Kutumsang (2446m.)

Day 05: Trek from Kutumsang to Tharepati (3650m.)

Day 06: Trek from Tharepani to Tarkeghyang (2743m.)

Day 07:  Trek from Tarkeghyang to Shermathang (2621m.)

Day 08:  Trek from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar (846m.)

Day 09:  Drive from Melamchi to Kathmandu, evening farewell dinner.
